But First | coffee
The most sustainable cup of coffee is the one you brew at home.
Skip the Keurig pods – they cannot be recycled as a whole (aka you have to separate the grounds from the aluminum and collect enough as they are too small to recycle singularly, ugh). If you must invest in pods, the eco-friendly choice would be a reusable pods like those made by Ekobrew. As an alternative, opt for a pour over or french press to help cut waste (the process is quite therapeutic, if I must say) .
*TIP: If you’re on the move and order coffee to go, be sure to rinse your used cup and the lid before disposing in the recycle bin — this helps reduce the amount of contaminants that make it to the processing plant; too many contaminants results in the whole recycling batch to be sent to the landfill, defeating the purpose.
Think before you drop!
